This spring, Children's Hospital Boston
physicians, in
collaboration with Pediatric Weight Management Centers, LLC, will open the
first of multiple centers that will provide
medically supervised, family-based weight management
programs for children 6 to 18. The first branch, in Newton, will offer a gym,
kitchen for cooking demonstrations and rooms for exams and group support.
On-site physicians, nutritionists, behavioral specialists and exercise physiologists will employ many of the clinical strategies developed at Children's Optimal Weight for Life Program. Erinn Rhodes, MD, MPH, will direct the center's medical services, which will stress the importance of forming long-term habits for a healthy lifestyle.
