| Patricia Reidy RN, CS, PNP, Neurosurgery
Tish trained as a nurse at Boston College. Her very first job was
here at Children’s on the old “Division 33.” In May 1985, Tish moved
to the recovery room. In 1987, she spent a year with Project Hope
in Indonesia, working under the auspices of the U.S. Navy and the
Ministry of Health of Indonesia. Her interest in international medicine
and in the care of the disadvantaged throughout the world has continued,
and Tish makes similar trips yearly with other colleagues from the
hospital. After returning to Boston, Tish received her Nurse Practitioner
degree and began her 15-year tenure as the Neurosurgical Nurse Practitioner.
She is an essential and invaluable part of the patient care team
in Neurosurgery, teaching patients, families and house officers
at all levels of expertise about the care and management of children
with neurosurgical disorders. She is the communications conduit
of the Neurosurgery service when the residents and attendings spend
long days in the operating room. Parents find her counsel and kind
demeanor reassuring and comforting, and patients returning to the
hospital look forward to seeing her. Neurosurgery congratulates
Tish for 30 years of remarkable service.
