Congratulations to Chad Cotter, a recruiter in Human Resources (HR), who's been chosen as Children's Hospital Boston's employee of the month for January. Until last year, Cotter worked as an HR assistant and now recruits for our main and satellite locations as well as Martha Eliot Health Center. Cotter may work behind the scenes, answering callers' questions and vetting prospective employees, but he's in the forefront of many employees' minds when they think of HR. Warm and welcoming, his attitude sets the tone for any interaction, conveying the message that he'll do all he can to help whomever is on the other end of the phone. One frequent Cotter caller gushed that he makes everyone feel as if he's been waiting around just to devote all his attention to their particular issues.
"I'll take care of it" and "I will get an answer for you right away" are some of Cotter's favorite phrases. His many nominators pointed out how he springs into action to get his job tasks done quickly—often before people even expect it. One of them enthused, "Normally, I'm waiting for someone to call me back, but in Chad's case, he's so proactive in communicating that he ends up waiting for me!"
Cotter extends these same courtesies to people looking for employment at Children's. He takes the time to fully screen every resume and candidate before passing them along to the appropriate manager. Cotter literally then goes the extra mile, walking candidates to their interviews with managers to make sure they find their way. Clearly, when he asks coworkers or prospective employees, "Can I do anything else for you?," he means it.
